Schubert, Franz - Symphony No. 9 (The Great) - Guttenberg zu, Enoch

Toimitusaika: Noin 7 - 14 arkipäivää
Schubert's “Great Symphony” – full of “heavenly lengths” (Quotation Robert Schumann) Franz Schubert himself never heard his “Great Symphony”, which was long considered impossible to play. It was not until more than 10 years after his death that it received its first performance, under Felix Mendelssohn in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig. The instigator of this première was Robert Schumann, who discovered the composition among some unpublished manuscripts during a visit to Schubert's brother Ferdinand and was able to fire the Leipzig kapellmeister Mendelssohn's enthusiasm for a performance. “This symphony produced an impression on us such as none had done since those of Beethoven. Here, besides masterly compositional technique, there is life in every fibre, colours down to the finest nuance, meaning everywhere, the acutest expression of detail, and the whole cast over by a romanticism that we are already familiar with elsewhere among Schubert's works.” Robert Schumann In this symphony, Enoch zu Guttenberg makes uncompromising statements about human existence, about the violent nature of our reality that is, all the same, pervaded by the most intimate beauty. A modern and gripping new interpretation. 20 years of the orchestra KlangVerwaltung “Highlights” as related by Andreas Reiner, concertmaster of KlangVerwaltung: We start the concert with Bach's D major suite. The subsequent applause seems endless – and, in fact, doesn't end until we repeat the famous Air. An encore after the first piece… An experience in Beijing. After many concerts in Vienna's Musikverein, we are sure that this is the best hall we know. In Boston's Symphony Hall, we have our doubts about this assessment, in the NCPA in Beijing as well, and in Montreal and Seoul, too. The most beautiful, best concert? St John Passion with Enoch zu Guttenberg in London and Herrenchiemsee. Tchaikovsky's Fifth with Heinrich Schiff. Schumann's Violin Concerto with Thomas Zehetmair. The worst concert? There was one – fortunately, I have forgotten when and where and with what work… The most exciting concert? Beethoven's Seventh in Lima– without conductor. The most spectacular concert? Beethoven's Fifth in front of an audience of 15,000 with Kent Nagano. The best concert tour? There have been so many… But perhaps the USA and Canada with Enoch zu Guttenberg. Only famous concert halls – with the special experience of a standing ovation in the sold-out Carnegie Hall. We look back over 20 years with great gratitude. And, after more than 500 concerts, with a bit of a chuckle as well: “KlangVerwaltung? With that name, you don't have a chance!”
