Schubert, Franz - Piano Trio Op. 100 & Notturno - Trio Latitude 41

During his short life, Schubert had always been in the habit of making music with others, instrumentalists and singers, amateurs or professionals.
Unlike Mozart, for example, who travelled throughout his (also very short) lifetime, Schubert rarely strayed far from his native Vienna, where he lived a simple, modest life, and organised with his friends the musical gatherings that came to be known as the "Schubertiads". And it was within that context that one of the two piano trios - presumably the Trio in B flat major, op. 99, although it is impossible to be absolutely certain3- was given in private by Schuppanzigh, Linke and Bocklet in March 1828.
